Frequently Asked Questions
DOES THE PAD NEED TO BE UNPLUGGED AFTER USE?
Once you plug the pad in (let it cycle for 20-30 minutes before using)
It is not necessary to ever unplug the pad. The internal heating
elements regulate the pad's temperature to keep it within safe
temperature ranges. If you do find it necessary to unplug the pad, then
it must be recalibrated again before each use.
WHY DOES THE PAD HAVE TO BE CYCLED BEFORE EACH
INITIAL USE?
The internal thermostat controls require a preheating cycle. During this
cycle, the pad temperature will exceed normal operating temperatures.
However, as the controls stabilize, the pad will begin working within
pre-set operating parameters. Cycle approximately 30 minutes each time
the pad is put into use.
WHY DOES THE PAD FEEL COLD TO THE TOUCH?
The pads surface temperature will average 94 degrees (without the animal
or any covering on it) which is cooler than the human body temperature
of 98.6, therefore the pad feels cold to the touch. However while the
animal lies on the pad, the heat is absorbed instead of being lost
through the air and allows the pad to work within its proper settings.
WHY DOES THE LIGHT GO ON AND OFF?
The light is indication that the internal thermostats of the pad are
cycling properly. When the light is on, it's indicating that the pad is
heating. When the pad reaches pre-set temperatures, the thermostats
switch off and the light goes out. As the pad cools, the thermostats
automatically restart, turning the light back on. This cycle will
continue until unit is unplugged. If you have a pad with two lights, the
green light indicates power and the yellow light indicates cycling.
WHAT KIND OF CLEANER CAN I USE?
Most all cleaners/disinfectants are acceptable, check labels for
precautions. Do not use solvents (acetone, thinners, etc.)
